Festival Concludes: UAB wins Two Awards

Well! It is over and the choir is back in Paris.

We are happy to report that we tied for the top award in Category 1 and that we received a special award for "Interpretation of a French Composition." The top award of the competition went to the other choir from the USA, the Salt Lake City choir. They were very good and they were the ones we tied with in Category 1.

Like champions, our choir was disappointed that they did not win (as was their director). However, the more we explored the scoring sheets and talked with the jury, the more we realized how close we came to winning the whole thing.

I'm very proud of the group and they are proud of themselves. We are off to see the city and bring a happy conclusion to this outstanding trip!

The memories of this trip won't be clouded by missing the top prize at the competition! The years ahead will affirm the friendships, the teamwork, the shared thrills of seeing Paris for the first time, and the beauty of the music you've created. These will far outweigh any disappointments of the moment! We are all so proud of all of you. Thank you, Dr. Copeland, for having the drive to challenge our kids, and for giving them this incredible opportunity.

Dr. Copeland,
Every day I have eagerly gone to the computer for news of the trip. You have been wonderful to keep us so upt to date--almsot as if we had been with you. Congratulations on a job well done. We look forward to welcoming all of you home on Wednesday. Our prayers are for a safe trip home and wonderful memories for all of you. Best to Charles, our favorite choir, and director. The Henry's

I was browsing and came across y'all's blog site and realized how much I miss y'all. I'm really proud of y'all, though! I hope everyone is doing well, and I'd love to hear from any of you! Just post a comment on my blog, and I'll get back to you ASAP!

Just out of curiosity, which choir from Salt Lake was it? I'm living in Utah right now, so I'm a little curious. Keep up the good work!
