Honoring Mrs. Burt

My piano teacher died a couple of weeks ago, on May 23, 2008.

I wasn't able to go to the funeral, but the Natchez Democrat has a wonderful online presence that allows you to post comments in the obituary section.

I posted this morning. She was important to me and I will miss her.

All musicians should honor their teachers . . . I certainly hold her in the highest esteem.

I've always been incredibly blessed with my teachers. I have the best musicians, with the greatest passion for their art, and the greatest love for the students they teach. I dont know how many people can say that, but I'm proud that I can. Without those that teach us, we wouldnt find the passion of music that drives our lives, and often gives us purpose. I will always honor my teachers, because I wouldnt truly know music without them, really I dont know that I'd even know myself.
