Ever in my life

Great choral music is not always dependent on great text, but the union of tremendous words with moving music can be quite profound. We will have some marvelous words and notes to sing this fall and spring!

I give you these words from Rabindranath Tagore, a great Indian poet and first Asian to receive the Nobel prize:

Ever in my life have I sought thee with my songs.
It was they who led me from door to door,
and with them have I felt about me,
searching and touching my world.

It was my songs that taught me all the lessons I ever learnt;
they showed me secret paths,
they brought before my sight many a star
on the horizon of my heart.

They guided me all the day long
to the mysteries of the country of pleasure and pain,
and, at last, to what palace gate have the brought me
in the evening at the end of my journey?

Wow, that's a great poem...is that a song? are we singing that this year? as i read that i could only think of all the times that we've all sat and pretty much just contemplated life and how all of our songs teach us something new. I think it's so interesting to see how each of us sees one little word differently and it can change the entire meaning of a piece to us, and how we sing it. Looking forward to sharing more of those precious moments with all of you this year!
