I was so proud . . .

I was so proud of your singing today; it was superb. I saw commitment on your faces, heard energy in your consonants, and witnessed passion in your eyes.

Without a doubt, the best performance of the year--and I think our best is yet to come.

I will look forward to discussing how you think we did and what you heard from others. I also look forward to hearing your insights on other college choirs.

But as for me and my evaluation of you: tremendous. It may have been the best of any UAB Group I've directed yet. I hope you leave comments to this post--let me know what you saw and felt--but no criticisms of other groups, please.

Enjoy your weekend and I'll see you Tuesday.

We had it today. It was second only to the first night of the Tours competition. Spectacular, what a joy to be a part of it.

That was incredible! I couldn't believe people stodd up for us! Well, I could, but it meant so much to me that the other schools would acknowledge how well they thought we did, despite the intense competition we felt all day.
YAY! GO UAB! That was so exciting! (Too bad our football team can't play the game as well as us!!!!)

Philip and Students,
Your performance today was tremendous. Philip, you never cease to amaze me with your selection of literature and the unbelievable manner in which your choir performs it. You are brilliant, as I feel your students are as well for singing such complex music with apparent ease.

Maggie...your solo was beautiful... I love to hear you sing....will never forget your OCS audition....I sat in uteer amazement as I watched you perform...the message of that song so touched my heart. Once again a reflection of you, Philip.

Thank you for wonderful music.

I honestly think we did a better job today than we did on our concert two weeks ago. Personally, it was the best performance I've ever given. The energy that flowed through us was incredible, And the way the chords and overtones rang throughout the sanctuary was absolutely stunning.

That was seriously the best performance I have ever been a part of in my life. I feel very fortunate to be a part of such an amazing group. I am extremely glad to be a part of UAB's program. Several random walked up to me to complement us. My mother watched us today, and she said that Cantate Domino was wonderful and made her cry. She and my dad also came to our last concert, and they both felt like our performance surpassed what they heard in October.
(I fixed some typos, that's why I deleted the other message, lol)

Cantate was magic.

Our energy was barely containable in the sanctuary. I can't wait to record!

As Charles said, second only to the qualifying performance in France.

Moments like that affirm my place at UAB, and this magnificent choir.

I've never been so excited to sing! I was even more pumped up than chamber choir in the back of jemison. It seemed like the energy bounced off the audience and right back to us. Even though we dropped a couple of times, no one got worried. Awesome experience.

It was pretty interesting and exciting to me because I really felt like there was no competitive spirit about the whole thing. I heard some great choral music.. and I heard some not-so -great choral music. I video taped most of the choirs, but my battery died by the time the 7 or 8 choir when up, and I didn't get to record us.

Speaking of us, I think we were AWESOME!!!!
Maybe I'm nuts, but every since Dr. C told us "walk on and have presence like YOU OWN THE STAGE!!!" , and then after our Fall concert and a fellow choir members parents told him that we actually looked like we did own it, I have been stuck on walking into a performance with a lot more confidence about both my self and the choir.
I love that feeling...
I think I will do that everywhere I go
with the exception of home...
anyway, talk to you all later.
