Doesn't Erin look fantastic?

I want to take a moment to say how much I will miss Erin next year. She has loved the UAB Concert Choir and it has been a wonderful five years.

Some losses are felt more by the director. Erin has been around long enough to know what I'm thinking in choir rehearsal most of the time. She can anticipate a rising frustration; it only takes a look from me to her to confirm what we are both thinking.

Erin is the type of person that will make notes for me without me asking her to do it--she takes charge in handing out dresses--she doesn't shirk away from any responsibility and instead seeks it out--it is the sort of thing I value very much.

In my mind, she joins a special club of students--ones that really had an impact on who we have become (and are becoming). We are better because Erin cared.

Can there be an induction ceremony with cupcakes!? I love cupcakes.

Then we can knight her with your baton or something and sing old choir songs to bring back memories!

Dr. Copeland... why you gotta make me cry! That was the sweetest thing anyone has ever said about me. You, and the entire choir, mean so much to me and I will never be able to tell you how much I will miss you all. But have no fear, I will return from time to time to see how my choir is doing... so ya'll better be good!! I love you all and Dr. C, thanks for making these the best 5 years of my life!! I will miss you more than you know.

Dr. C. You have helped Erin's dream come true and I can't express how much I appreciate your influence and encouragement. She will forever remember the years spent with her Dr. Copeland. Thank you from me, too, for allowing me to enjoy your choir direction. Since I didn't have the nerve to sing in school, I have had fun living vicariously through Erin and all those sweet, talented kids.

Hearing from parents really means something to me. Thanks, Suzy! It was an honor to spend five years with your daughter and get to know the person she has become.
